AURZEN × OHHH VIDEO CONTEST
UNFOLD MORE. ANYWHERE.
an unreleased portable projector, thirty videographers, one sealed brief. no footage of it exists anywhere yet.
Product Launch Contest
three things to know before you scroll: what you're shooting for, what's at stake, and how long you've got.
What This Is
aurzen is handing an unreleased portable projector to thirty videographers worldwide, before it has ever faced a camera. one category, one story, under a sealed brief and a confidentiality agreement. every entry ends in one of four settings you pick when you apply, and the whole thing runs on a total prize pool of $10,000 from aurzen plus $1,000 from OHHH.
The Story (6 Movements)
synopsis
Sixty to ninety seconds, opening in hard afternoon light, ending in the dark. The projector stays in frame the whole way, wanted and unusable while the sun holds. Dusk arrives, a door closes, and the beam opens wide across a blank wall. Faces lift into the light. The room becomes somewhere else entirely.
six movements
Examples of how it lands, not the only way.
The Itch, Daylight
The projector shows up and your character wants to see it work. First attempt, daylight, sunlit wall. The sun wins. Nothing shows.
The Spark, Daylight
He is still holding the receipt when he gets back to the van, box riding in the cart seat, already imagining tonight's wall before the engine is even off.
The Blockers, Daylight
Your character keeps trying between everything else going on. The group chat wants tonight confirmed. A delivery blocks the doorway right as the shot lines up.
The Blockers, Dusk
The blockers keep coming as light drops. A ladder gets called back mid climb. A gust flattens the screen. The group chat stops joking, starts sending directions.
The Dinner, Dusk
Dark falls, and the group chat is already there. The projector unfolds against the wall everyone picked. The beam opens. Faces turn into the light, together. Shoot this as a clean standalone take, no dialogue, no cuts. Aurzen lifts it straight into future ads, so the screen itself needs to read sharp on camera, faces and text clear.
The Fold Away, Night
The projector folds into the bag. Nobody wants the night to end. Faces stay lit, still laughing. Your character got the shot.
The projector stays on screen the full sixty to ninety seconds, not just the last fifteen. In the bag, on the seat, glanced at, picked up, the whole way through. One question: when does the light finally come on. Do not answer it early.
The Projector
Pocket sized, turns any surface into a high definition screen and any room into its own light source, no outlet needed. Carry it there, light it there.
Do not explain the tech. Show the light.
Where Your Story Ends (4 Settings)
Four places where the night can happen. Pick the one you already know how to shoot.
hotel room
Short term rental, business trip running late. One night only. A blank city wall becomes a private theater. Hard part: intimacy in a room built for nobody.
car or bedroom
Bedroom ceiling or car interior, whichever you know best. One or two people, close enough the light lands on skin. Project onto a glass roof, windshield, or ceiling.
outdoors
Camping trip, RV, backyard, remote trailhead. No outlet, no wall, so the beam lands on a tent, a van door, or a pegged up sheet.
with friends
Game room, house party, garage hangout. A blank wall becomes the reason everybody stayed out late.
Prizes
One overall winner, chosen across all four settings combined. Setting does not decide the prize. The best video does.
$3,000
$5,000
$2,000
+ $1,000 more from OHHH across two more ways to win, see The OHHH Awards below.
Judging: Aurzen picks the winners, OHHH runs the contest with zero role in that call.
How It Works
Apply
Story plus chosen setting.
Get Chosen
One of thirty worldwide.
Sign And Receive
Contract and confidentiality agreement signed, device and sealed brief ship to you.
Create And Submit
Shoot it, submit it, keep the projector.
Requirements
Long enough for the projector to earn its moment, short enough that nobody looks away first.
Aurzen may lift this straight into future ads, so it has to hold up on a big screen.
One story, two frames, so it plays the same everywhere it ends up.
Age 18+, USA, Canada, EU, Australia, or New Zealand. One application per person.
Delivery: Private submission to OHHH, no public posting.
Scoring
Total: 100 points, five criteria.
Projection reads as the real light source. Washed out by a bright room scores low.
The device is essential, not a placement.
The wait earns the ending. Missing any required element caps this at 13.
Edit and music lift the footage into a warm commercial rhythm.
A simple emotional payoff that lasts.
Zero points: a bright room with no visible projection, a traditional living room, third party logos, simulated light, or an unidentifiable device.
How To Shoot It
Register: upbeat, night time, lived in, human.
Light It Properly
Own gear, ambient light low, projection stays brightest in frame.
Let The Day Travel
Flat daylight, then dusk, then night, always readable.
Watch Outs
Unexpected spaces only, no home theater rooms, setup instant, gaming scenes casual not competitive.
AI And 3D
Elements only (VFX, motion design, titles, set extension, compositing), never the entire video. The beam must be real light from a real projector, never simulated or AI generated. No AI generated people or product.
The OHHH Awards
OHHH puts up $1,000 of its own money for two awards, open to all thirty, decided by the crowd, not a judge. This one is ours, so we're making it feel like one.
ohhh action: the making of ($500)
Behind the scenes video of your process, gear, failed takes, the moment it came together.
beam portraits: the stills ($500)
Photo series blending a human subject with the projected light so person and projection read as one image.
